"Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex"-
The ERA, the 28th Amendment

01

The ERA is the 28th Amendment-let's start using it. People can't exercise rights they do not know they have!

So Biden has declared the ERA to be the "law of the land", yet some politicians have deemed it moot because of a deadline that many others argue was illegal and unconstitutional in the first place! While this is a time for much constitutional chaos, the experts we have consulted with have two very potent words of advice: DECLARE VICTORY. The ERA has passed all vital criteria-for ratification. As Biden said, the role of the archivist is purely ministerial. Their job was to publish, not provide their own opinion. So we celebrate a quasi-muted victory but a victory nonetheless. The next step is simple: SPREAD THE WORD.  Tell your friends, your colleagues, your neighbors that The ERA is officially a part of the constitution. Host a viewing party for Ratified. Check out our super helpful impact toolkit  for myriad ways to spread the word in your community. Learn the words. Print them on t-shirts! Get in touch with your schools in your neighborhood and see if they will host a screening for their students.  Citizens need to know the 28th Amendment will provide legal support for the rights our current White House is trying to remove. If there is disagreement, let the courts settle it. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is much better at explaining this than I am, so for clarity, watch video #2.

Understand your rights!

Watch this video of Kirsten Gillibrand of her press conference following Biden's announcement regarding the ERA. It is really helpful and informative in understanding why understanding and exercising our rights is so important, particularly right now.
